Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 2, Verse 47
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन |
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ||
In this verse, the supreme personality of the Godhead, Lord Krishna, instructs Arjuna that he has the right to perform his prescribed duties. However, Arjuna is not entitled to the fruits or the outcomes that result from discharging one's prescribed duties. Moreover, the supreme personality of the Godhead reminds Arjuna that he should never assume himself to be the cause or doer in performing his duties. Therefore, humans are mere enablers or instruments in discharging our responsibilities to the Almighty. Finally, in this verse, Lord Krishna also reminds Arjuna that he should be de-attached for not performing his actions.
